High-strength polypropylene filament procurement: Our quality control points are provided for your reference!
High-strength polypropylene filament is widely used in areas such as sewing of container bags, weaving of safety rope nets, and stitching of filter cloth. As a purchaser, the two things you are most concerned about are: whether the thread is strong enough and whether the batch is stable. Below, from the production perspective, we will introduce how we control these two aspects.
1. Raw Materials and Twist Degree: Establishing a Strong Foundation for Strength
The core of High-strength polypropylene filament lies in the combination of the fiber raw materials and the twisting process.
Raw material selection: High-strength polypropylene fibers are used as the filament base. Before entering the factory, the strength and elongation rate are inspected to ensure there is no significant fluctuation among different batches of raw materials.
Twist matching purpose: Different uses have different requirements for twist. Sewing thread needs to have an appropriate twist to ensure smooth passage through the needle; warp threads for weaving need a slightly higher twist to reduce fraying and breakage. We will adjust the process according to the usage you provide and will not set a uniform standard.
Twist direction uniformity: When twisting multiple strands together, pay attention to the twist direction coordination to prevent the finished product line from becoming knotted or loose.
II. Batch Consistency and Pre-Shipment Inspection
When conducting bulk purchases, the biggest concern is the significant differences in color, thickness and texture between consecutive batches. To minimize these variations, we adopt the following measures:
Sample retention comparison: Samples are retained for each batch of products. During the production of the next batch, a comparison of thickness and texture will be made with the samples from the previous batch. Any differences found will be promptly adjusted.
Process inspection: Samples are taken at regular intervals during the twisting and winding processes to check the uniformity of the wire diameter and the presence of surface fuzziness.
Color line management: For colored high-strength polypropylene yarns, color samples are taken before and after each batch of production to ensure there is no color variation within the same batch and that the color difference between batches is within an acceptable range.
It should be noted that polypropylene thread will experience a decrease in strength when exposed to long-term ultraviolet radiation. For outdoor products, it is recommended to combine with anti-aging treatment or replace it regularly.
Summary and Selection Suggestions
When purchasing high-strength polypropylene yarn, it is recommended to follow the steps below for confirmation:
Clarify the purpose: sewing, weaving or binding? Different purposes have different requirements for twist degree, softness and surface smoothness.
Request for recent samples: Compare the thickness, texture and color of two to three batches, and observe the batch stability.
Machine trial operation: Conduct small-scale trial runs of sewing machines or looms, paying attention to the breakage rate and the smoothness of the threads.
